Supporting Ventura County Cattle Ranchers

CATTLE GRAZING LAND DESTROYED BY THE THOMAS FIRE!
It is estimated that over 75,000 acres of cattle grazing pasture burned during the Thomas Fire. That represents nearly 40% of available grazing land in Ventura County and affects 60% of cattle ranchers here.
There are a handful of ranches where 100% of the grazing land was burned and ranchers must now rely completely on imported feed. This has been devastating to the cattlemen community and will be a long-term problem because grasses take time to regenerate, especially during our current drought conditions.
IMPORTING FEED IS AN EXPENSIVE SOLUTION!
Based on today’s feed prices, it costs $80/month to feed a single cow, calf or steer with imported hay in the absence of grazing pastures. There are over 1600 cows in the County now requiring imported feed to survive. The need is great. Financial support is critical to sustain local ranching operations which are vital to our local agriculture industry and an important part of Ventura County heritage.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Thomas Fire Help Hay Fund will purchase and import feed for local cattle whose grazing land was burned. 100% of your contribution will go directly to the cause.
$80 feeds 1 Cow, Calf or Steer for 1 month
$1,000 feeds a dozen Cows, Calves or Steers for 1 month
We're looking to raise funds to help 1600 cattle for several months, so every dollar counts.
